Working with new and existing people managers over many years we've have noticed a number of issues that appear to be consistent across most businesses.

The Magic Weekend

'You've just had a promotion and on Monday you'll start with your new team! You've got a good record and you've always been one of the top performers in your team, you know your job inside out! Your excited and looking forward to the new challenge and can't wait to get stuck in! Monday arrives and its all going well until you start to realise that this business of Managing people is a little more complicated than you first thought ...'

We have heard similar stories many times. So, The Magic Weekend is where there is an assumption by the business that a newly promoted manager will magically learn all the new skills he or she need to manage a group of people and build a team over the weekend!

Clearly, in reality, this does not happen!

Principles of Management is a structured development programme that develops employees into people managers, and into 'leaders'. It provides the knowledge, management techniques and develops the skills that a new or existing manager needs to successfully build a team that delivers great results.
